The “I AM WITH YOU” theme in the Bible

NIV translation

In this crisis when there are so many “unknown unknowns”, particularly how to save the
economy and how long it will take for scientists to find a vaccination for Coronavirus, it is
good to focus on the “I am with you” promises in the bible, from the Old Testament to
Jesus. These passages also make a fascinating bible study.
Genesis 28:15
I am with you and will watch over you wherever you go, and I will bring you back to
this land. I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you.”
Isaiah 41:10
So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will
strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
Isaiah 43:5
Do not be afraid, for I am with you; I will bring your children from the east and
gather you from the west.
Jeremiah 1:8
Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you and will rescue you,” declares the LORD.
Jeremiah 1:19
They will fight against you but will not overcome you, for I am with you and will
rescue you,” declares the LORD.
Jeremiah 15:20
I will make you a wall to this people, a fortified wall of bronze; they will fight against
you but will not overcome you, for I am with you to rescue and save you,” declares
the LORD.
Jeremiah 42:11
Do not be afraid of the king of Babylon, whom you now fear. Do not be afraid of him,
declares the LORD, for I am with you and will save you and deliver you from his
hands.
Matthew 28:20
And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
Acts 18:10
For I am with you, and no one is going to attack and harm you, because I have
many people in this city.”
1 Corinthians 5:3
For my part, even though I am not physically present, I am with you in spirit.
1 Corinthians 5:4
So when you are assembled and I am with you in spirit, and the power of our Lord
Jesus is present
A beautiful hymn which carries the I am with you theme….
1/ I heard the voice of Jesus say ‘Come unto me and rest;
lay down, thou weary one, lay down thy head upon my breast’:
I came to Jesus as I was, weary, and worn and sad;
I found in him a resting-place, and he has made me glad.

2/ I heard the voice of Jesus say, ‘Behold, I freely give
the living water; thirsty one, stoop down and drink, and live’:
I came to Jesus, and I drank of that life giving stream;
my thirst was quenched, my soul revived, and now I live in him.
3/ I heard the voice of Jesus say, ‘I am this dark world’s light;
Look unto me, thy morn shall rise, and all thy day be bright’:
I looked to Jesus and I found in him my star, my sun;
And in that light of life I’ll walk till travelling days are done.

Horatius Bonar (1808-89)

Verses 19-21 from Psalm 25
O keep my soul and deliver me;
let me not be put to shame, for I have put my trust in you.
Let integrity and uprightness preserve me,
for my hope has been in you.
Deliver Israel, O God,
out of all his troubles.

Daily Prayer Collect for Psalm 25
Free us, God of mercy,
from all that keeps us from you;
relieve the misery of the anxious and the ashamed
and fill us with the hope of peace;
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Please pray for:
